Should this be confidential?

I found an application on the Texas tribune that allows people to look up state employees salaries. It is complete with the name,job title and amount of money that they make annually. I found this a tad bit frightening that personal information is being given out freely. In my opinion how much money a person makes is their own business and I feel that it is a person’s choice as to whether or not they would like to give that information to others. Money is a very big deal now-a-days and people could get hurt over this information being to the public. I feel that we should know what is going on with our government and I like that they are sharing more information with the public but I feel that the information they are giving out here is not their information to share. It is a violation of privacy.
